Tourists on the Island

What a week!  We have been to almost every beach on our little island as well as to Crystal Caves, the Dockyards, the Swizzle Inn, the Bermuda International Film Festival and a new farmer's market --- all thanks to Rosa's visit.  Though the weather wasn't Bermuda's finest, Rosa was still game to go anywhere and do anything and that is exactly what we did.  At the first glimpse of sun we were off to the beach and have found many spots that will certainly see lots of return trips.  It was amazing to be able to see our home through someone else's eyes and appreciate even more how lucky we are to have this opportunity.  What wasn't amazing was having to say goodbye today as she headed back to Toronto.  June seems like a long time away before we get to see her in person again.

Stevens-Christopher Race Weekend

The climate in Bermuda is perfect for exercise.  We have taken full advantage of the warm days that we have enjoyed since January and have been running along the trails and roads at least a few times each week.  This weekend, Jim, Morgan and I each challenged ourselves in a race.  Morgan set the tone on Friday evening running a 400m "Dash at Dark" with other 4 and 5 year old boys.  He was as cute as can be and didn't even let his little fall at the beginning of the race dampen his spirits.  He got to the end with a big smile on his face and told us that he just kept saying to himself, "I can do it, it's not much further, just keep going!"  Saturday morning was Jim's race and our little family headed off to the Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo for the 7.2 mile "Zoom around the Sound".  Jim impressed us (and himself) by running the race in only 69 minutes.  Finally, Sunday morning was my "Beach to Beach" 5K race that took me on a beautiful course along the ocean that began and ended at Horseshoe Bay.  We were all so proud to complete each of our individual races and love the healthy lifestyle that we are able to enjoy.  Although we couldn't find a race for Quinn (not too many available for the 2-year old set), he did lots of wind sprints at the National Stadium, Zoo-quarium, and beach.  He'll be all set when there is a race for him, for sure.
